DEATH AND LIFE - MIRACLES OF THE OLD TESTAMENT

DEATH AND LIFE

         GENESIS CHAPTER 2

                 VERSE 7

7) Then the LORD God formed man of dust from the ground.

               GENESIS CHAPTER 3

               VERSE 19

19) By the sweat of your face you will eat bread. Till you return to the ground, because from it you were taken; for you are dust, And to dust you shall return.

                      LUKE CHAPTER 16

               VERSE, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24

19) Now there was a rich man, and he habitually dressed in purple and fine linen, joyously living in splendor every day.

20) And a poor man named Lazarus was laid at his gate, covered with sores.

21) and longing to be fed with the crumbs which were falling from the rich man’s table; besides, even the dogs were coming and licking his sores.

22) Now the poor man died and was carried away by the angels to Abraham’s bosom; and the rich man also died and was buried.

23) In Hades he lifted up his eyes, being in torment and saw Abraham far away and Lazarus in his bosom.

24) And he cried out and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus so that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool off my tongue, for I am in agony in this flame.

              1 CORINTHIANS CHAPTER 15

            VERSE, 50, 51, 52, 53, 54, 55, 56

50) Now I say this, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God: nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable.

51) Behold, I tell you a mystery; we will not all sleep, but we will all be changed.

52) In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet; for the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed.

53) For this perishable must put on the imperishable, and this mortal must put on immortality.

54) But when this perishable will have put on the imperishable, and this mortal will have put on immortality, then will come about the saying that is written. DEATH IS SWALLOWED UP IN VICTORY.

55) O DEATH, WHERE IS YOUR VICTORY? O DEATH WHERE IS YOUR STING?

56) The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law.

             1 THESSALONIANS CHAPTER 4

              VERSE, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17

 13) But we do not want you to be uninformed, brethren, about those who are asleep, so that you will not grieve as do the rest who have no hope.

14) For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep in Jesus.

15) For this we say to you by the word of the LORD, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the LORD. Will not precede those who have fallen asleep

16) For the LORD himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first.

17) Then we who are alive and remain will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the LORD in the air, and so we shall always be with the LORD.

                  LUKE CHAPTER 24

           VERSE, 36, 37, 38, 39, 40, 41, 42

36) While they were telling these things, He Himself stood in their midst and said to them. Peace be to you.”

37) But they were startled and frightened and thought that they were seeing a spirit.

38) And He said to them, why are you troubled, and why do doubts arise in your hearts?

39) See my hands and my feet, that it is I myself; touch me and see, for a spirit does not have flesh and bones as you see that I have.

40) And when he had said this, He showed them his hands and his feet.

41) While they still could not believe it because of their joy and amazement, he said to them. Have you anything here to eat?

42) They gave him a piece of a broiled fish;

                    JOHN CHAPTER 5

               VERSE, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29

24) Truly. Truly. I say to you, he who hears my word, and believes him who sent me, has eternal life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life.

25) Truly. Truly. I say to you, an hour is coming and now is, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God, and those who hear will live.

26) For just as the father has life in himself, even so he gave to the Son also to have life in himself;

27) And he gave him authority to execute judgment, because he is the Son of man.

28) Do not marvel at this; for an hour is coming, in which all who are in the tombs will hear his voice.

29) And will come forth; those who did the good deeds to a resurrection of life, those who committed the evil deeds to a resurrection of judgment.

              ECCLESIASTES CHAPTER 12

              VERSE 7

12) Then the dust will return to the earth as it was, and the spirit will return to God who gave it.

                     DANIEL CHAPTER 12

                     VERSE, 1, 2, 3

1) Now at that time Michael, the great prince who stands guard over the sons of your people, will arise. And there will be a time of distress such as never occurred since there was a nation until that time; and at that time your people, everyone who is found written in the book, will be rescued.

2) Many of those who sleep in the dust of the ground will awake, these to everlasting life, but the others to disgrace and everlasting contempt.

3) Those who have insight will shine brightly like the brightness of the expanse of heaven, and those who lead the many to righteousness, like the stars forever and ever.

                 REVELATION CHAPTER 20

                 VERSE, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15

11) Then I saw a great white throne and Him who sat upon it, from whose presence earth and heaven fled away, and no place was found for them.

12) And I saw the dead, the great and the small, standing before the throne, and books were opened; and another book was opened, which is the book of life; and the dead were judged from the things which were written in the books, according to their deeds.

13) And the sea gave up the dead which were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead which were in them; and they were judged, every one of them according to their deeds.

14) Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire.

15) And if anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.

                  ISAIAH CHAPTER 28

                   VERSE, 15, 16, 17, 18

15) Because you have said, we have made a covenant with death. And with Sheol we have made a pact. The overwhelming scourge will not reach us when it passed by. For we have made falsehood our refuge and we have concealed ourselves with deception.

16) Therefore thus says the LORD GOD. Behold, I am laying in Zion a stone, a tested stone, A costly cornerstone for the foundation, firmly placed. He who believes in it will not be disturbed.

17) I will make justice the measuring line and righteousness the level; Then hail will sweep away the refuge of lies And the waters will overflow the secret place.

18) Your covenant with death will be canceled. And your pact with Sheol will not stand; When the overwhelming scourge passes through, Then you become its tramping place.

                   1 KINGS CHAPTER 2

                    VERSE, 1, 2, 3

1) As David’s time to die drew near, he charged Solomon his son, saying.

2) I am going the way of all the earth. Be strong, therefore, and show yourself a man.

3) Keep the charge of the LORD your GOD, to walk in his ways, to keep his statutes. His commandments. His ordinances, and His testimonies, according to what is written in the Law of Moses, that you may succeed in all that you do and wherever you turn.

18) This is an easy thing in the eyes of the LORD; he will also deliver Moab into your hands.

19) You will overthrow every fortified city and every major town. You will cut down every good tree, stop up all the springs, and ruin every good field with stones.”

20) The next morning, about the time for offering the sacrifice, there it was—water flowing from the direction of Edom! And the land was filled with water.
